Job Summary

The Department of Industrial Relations is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Labor Commissioner III to lead the development and implementation of programs and policies that promote fair labor practices and protect the rights of workers. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs and policies that promote fair labor practices and protect the rights of workers.
  • Lead a team of staff in the development and implementation of programs and policies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including labor organizations, employers, and community groups, to promote fair labor practices and protect the rights of workers.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to employers and employees on labor laws and regulations.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support program implementation.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, business administration, or labor relations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in program management, policy development, and staff supervision.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
Working Conditions

This position is located at the Department of Industrial Relations headquarters in Sacramento, California. The incumbent will work in a office environment and may be required to travel to other locations as needed.

Special Requirements
  • The position requires fluency in the Spanish language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
