Position Overview

Available Roles

Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, this position is responsible for performing audiological evaluations and delivering essential services to students enrolled in Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing educational programs.

This role includes conducting follow-up assessments for children with hearing challenges in various special education settings.

Another critical component involves advising parents on assessment outcomes, maintenance of hearing devices, and strategies for auditory training.

Additionally, training educational staff on the use of cochlear implants and hearing aid management may be part of the responsibilities. The positions are itinerant and primarily based in the Bakersfield area.

Qualifications

Educational Background and Credentials:

  • Valid California credential(s) or equivalent, including a Master's Degree in Audiology and a Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential in Audiology.
  • A Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology is preferred.
  • Experience in pediatric audiology or educational audiology is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of hearing aids, auditory training techniques, and electroacoustic instruments.

Professional Experience:

  • At least three years of experience providing audiological services within Special Education frameworks for students of varying ages.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate goals and objectives for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Experience working collaboratively with California Children's Services is advantageous.

Additional Requirements:

  • A personal vehicle, valid California driver's license, and current automobile insurance with minimum coverage are required.
  • Successful completion of fingerprint clearance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and California Department of Justice is mandatory.
