Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing complex security enforcement work at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and patrolling grounds, checking employees and visitors in and out of the facility, inspecting and safeguarding buildings, properties, and equipment, and maintaining facility security and traffic control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and patrol grounds to ensure the security and safety of the facility and its occupants.
  • Check employees and visitors in and out of the facility, verifying their identity and authorization.
  • Inspect and safeguard buildings, properties, and equipment to prevent unauthorized access or damage.
  • Maintain facility security and traffic control, including monitoring cameras and responding to emergencies.
  • Collaborate with facility staff to meet established objectives and goals, sharing information and identifying concerns and trends.
  • Identify, report, and apprehend individuals who attempt to enter the facility without authorization or engage in malicious behavior.
  • Monitor outcomes for racial, ethnic, and gender disparities and take action to address identified disparities.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Level II or III security guard license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (preferred).
  • Military police experience (preferred).
  • Military experience (preferred).
  • Experience in the use of firearms (preferred).
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, responding to emergencies and maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail. The position may require working in excess of 40 hours per week and being on-call.
