Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Specialist III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for agency information technology systems, including computer hardware and software.
  • Train, oversee, or direct the work of others as needed.
  • Work under moderate supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Provide customer service and answer user inquiries regarding computer software, hardware, and systems.
  • Schedule computer adds/moves/changes and complete installations.
  • Maintain the network's physical and logical structures, including network connections.
  • Perform project work and assignments given by supervisor.
  • Install, test, and maintain network hardware and software.
  • Provide user support and training in the use of available hardware, software, and utilities.
  • Assist in maintaining the operating system and security software utilized on the network.
  • Support the Local Office Infrastructure or wide area network, cable and hub installations, inventories, and other related duties.
  • May train, oversee, or direct the work of others at the request of the manager.
  • Serve as backup in the unit as necessary.
  • Complete additional tasks, projects, or special assignments upon request by manager.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and seminars as required.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of network operating system and security software.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve network problems.
  • Ability to train others on technical issues and/or agency procedures.
  • Ability to oversee the work of others and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively either verbally or through written correspondence information to technical and not-technical staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others including management, co-workers, subordinates, and customers.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage heavy workloads.
