Job Overview

As a key member of our team at MasTec Inc, you will be responsible for the proficient operation of various types of cranes, including hydro cranes, crawler cranes, and pile driving hammers. Your role is crucial in hoisting, moving, and placing materials and objects safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Utilize levers and pedals to control the crane's boom and load lines effectively.
  • Follow visual signals from team members to raise, lower, and rotate the boom or load.
  • Ensure the safety of the load by observing the hook-up process and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Conduct daily inspections of cranes to maintain operational integrity.
  • Monitor site and weather conditions to ensure safe crane operation.
  • Perform cleaning, maintenance, and lubrication of equipment as required.
  • Obtain necessary permits for crane operation.
  • Exhibit versatility and a cooperative attitude, assisting with other tasks on construction sites when not operating a crane.
  • Be prepared to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Provide coverage for colleagues during absences.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to three months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Nationally accredited certification (NCCCO, NCCER, CIC, or OECP) is mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Commitment to personal and team safety, aligning with MasTec's Zero Injury principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Proficient in writing routine reports.
  • Mathematical skills to perform calculations using various units of measure.
  • Capability to analyze and interpret data, including graphs and ratios.
  • Common sense understanding to execute instructions in various formats.
  • Problem-solving skills to address issues involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
