Job Summary

AMR Kurtz is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Battalion Chief to lead our team of firefighters and emergency medical technicians. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of customer service and operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the fire department, ensuring alignment with the company's vision and goals.
  • Develop and implement effective plans to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to ensure seamless communication and coordination across the organization.
  • Make informed decisions that balance business needs with the safety and well-being of our employees and the community we serve.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 10 years of full-time Fire/EMS experience, including at least 3 years at the rank of company officer or higher in a career department.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Fire Science, Business, Leadership, Public Administration, or another similar field.
  • Arizona or National EMT Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Fire Instructor I – IFSAC or Pro Board.
  • Fire Officer I – IFSAC or Pro Board.
  • Successful completion of IS 100, 200, 700, and 800.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree from an accredited university or college in Fire Science, Business, Leadership, Public Administration, or another similar field.
  • 10 years of full-time Fire/EMS experience, including at least 5 years at the rank of Battalion Chief or higher in a career department.
  • Arizona or National Paramedic Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Incident Safety Officer.
  • Fire Instructor II – IFSAC or Pro Board.
  • Fire Officer II – IFSAC or Pro Board.
  • Successful completion of IS 100, 200, 700, 800; and ICS 300 and 400.
  • Certified as a Blue Card Incident Commander Instructor.
  • Designated as a Chief Training Officer (CTO) or Chief Fire Officer (CFO) or Chief EMS Officer (CEMSO).
