Consequently, most of our staff operate in a hybrid model, working both remotely and onsite. Our current hybrid framework necessitates staff to be present onsite at least two days a week, specifically every Tuesday and one additional day, determined by their department. Hybrid staff are also encouraged to come in on extra days or may be requested to do so by their supervisor.

WGBH is a leading public media organization, serving New England, the nation, and the globe with productions that educate, inspire, and entertain across television, radio, the web, and an expanding array of mobile platforms. WGBH is PBS's foremost producer for television and online content, a significant provider of programs broadcast nationally on public radio, a leader in educational multimedia, and media access services for individuals with vision or hearing impairments, as well as the foremost public media entity for greater Boston and New England.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Administrative Coordinator (SAC) will provide comprehensive support to a WGBH Executive overseeing a diverse portfolio of multi-platform programming. This role will involve a variety of strategic administrative tasks that require initiative and sound judgment, aimed at ensuring effective communication, efficient office operations, and high-quality assistance to the WGBH Executive.
WGBH is looking for a meticulous, experienced, and skilled administrative professional who excels as a self-starter and problem solver. This dynamic and fast-paced role will necessitate regular interaction with WGBH production personnel, Board members, foundation leaders, and key representatives from our public media communities. Attributes such as trustworthiness, discretion, poise, confidentiality, adaptability, and a solutions-oriented mindset are essential. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal), superior interpersonal abilities, advanced computer proficiency, and the capacity to exercise sound independent judgment to keep projects on track.
The candidate must be capable of working autonomously and proactively on multiple concurrent deadlines with minimal guidance and execute tasks with a sense of urgency. The ideal SAC must be able to engage diplomatically with a broad range of individuals in a collaborative manner, demonstrate composure under pressure, and professionally represent the WGBH Executive and our organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect and compile information from various sources. Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, etc. Act as the operational liaison with WGBH's Executive Leadership Team, department heads, and staff; with leaders and contacts at other public media organizations; with members of our Boards of Trustees and Overseers; and with the general public. Ensure timely and orderly processing of documents, correspondence, internal reports, and other transactions in accordance with established procedures.
- Manage complex calendars and arrange travel, with occasional off-hours work required.
- Occasionally provide on-site support for large meetings and events (some of which may occur in the evenings or on weekends).
- Conduct occasional editorial tasks, including researching story ideas and exploring new social and digital platforms.
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High professional standards, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn new skills as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Genuine interest in both documentary and scripted storytelling.
- Editorial or production experience is a plus but not required.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. Candidates must have experience as a C-level executive assistant or in a comparable role, with 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
