Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanic to join our team at Sika. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and Train Maintenance Staff: Supervise and train a team of maintenance technicians to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Manage Mechanical Projects: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of mechanical projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • General Office and Manufacturing Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on office and manufacturing equipment, including lubrication, oil changes, and repairs.
  • Lubrication and Oil Changes: Ensure that all heavy production machinery is properly lubricated and maintained to prevent downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Repair and Replace Bearings, Gearheads, Belts, Chains, Conveyors, Filters, etc.: Diagnose and repair or replace worn or damaged mechanical components to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Modify Existing Structural Components: Make modifications to existing equipment and structures to ensure compliance with safety regulations and cost-saving measures.
  • Perform Daily Quality Checks: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure that all equipment and processes meet Sika's high standards for quality and safety.
  • Fabrication of Parts: Fabricate parts for repair or replacement of existing equipment and installation of new equipment.
  • Assist with Spare Parts Inventory Management: Assist with the management of spare parts inventory to ensure that all necessary parts are available when needed.
  • Basic Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on company vehicles, including forklifts, pickup trucks, and refuse trucks.
Requirements
  • High School Degree: A high school degree or equivalent is required.
  • Industrial Mechanical Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance in a production environment is required.
  • Prior Forklift Certification and Extrusion Experience: Prior forklift certification and experience with extrusion and sheet line equipment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Environmental, Health, and Safety Regulations: Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety regulations is required.
  • Good Mechanical Aptitude: A good mechanical aptitude and ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems is essential.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatic Cylinders and Controls: Knowledge of pneumatic cylinders and controls is required.
  • Ability to Use Hand Tools: Ability to use hand tools and have a technical understanding is required.
  • Knowledge of Windows-Based Computer Software: Knowledge of Windows-based computer software is required.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulic Systems and Components: Knowledge of hydraulic systems and components, including pumps, cylinders, valves, etc., is required.
  • Ability to Read and Understand Technical Drawings: Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, P&IDs, etc., is required.
  • Ability to Operate Lathe, Milling Machine, Drill Press, Mig Welder, Tig Welder, Plasma Cutter: Ability to operate lathe, milling machine, drill press, mig welder, tig welder, plasma cutter to fabricate and repair equipment is required.
  • Ability to Read and Write English: Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license in good standing is required.
  • PLC Knowledge and CDL Class B: PLC knowledge and CDL Class B are a plus.
