Position Overview:

Marathon Petroleum Company LP, a leading player in the petroleum refining and marketing sector, is currently seeking applications for the role of Terminal Operator at our Asphalt terminal in Fernley, Nevada. This role involves engaging with various petroleum products and overseeing all operational functions of a terminal dedicated to petroleum products. The position is vital in enhancing the quality of life by blending, distributing, and delivering top-notch products safely, reliably, and competitively.

While this position is assigned to a primary location, flexibility to work at other nearby sites may be required based on business demands. The work schedule may consist of a 4- or 5-day workweek or shift work as necessary. Candidates should be prepared for potential call-outs and overtime, which may occur outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays. Continuous training will be provided to enhance job-related skills. A successful candidate will demonstrate collaboration, reliability, motivation, and a strong commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on truck loading racks and other terminal equipment.
  • Perform sampling and laboratory testing of petroleum products.
  • Gauge storage tanks accurately.
  • Facilitate the shipment and receipt of petroleum products via pipeline and/or barge/ship.
  • Engage in physical tasks such as stair climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted, and up to 100 pounds with assistance, often in outdoor settings.
  • Prepare and submit terminal reports as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Willingness to learn basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and maintain accurate records.
  • Capacity to learn about mechanical and electrical systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or vocational training in a relevant field.
  • Prior experience in process operations, maintenance, or the petroleum industry.
