The Koch CFO organization's Investment division is in search of a Manager of Investment Accounting. In this capacity, you will add value to the organization as a key business partner, assisting the respective investment teams with all finance, accounting, and financial reporting functions. This role will engage with business leaders and the Investments Controller to ensure that investments are accurately recorded in accordance with US GAAP and reflect the underlying economic performance. We are looking for analytical thinkers and highly driven individuals. The ideal candidate will possess experience in investment accounting and the ability to research and document technical accounting perspectives with a focus on ongoing transformation; a proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management; and a strong inclination towards problem-solving, adapting to, and promoting new technologies, learning new systems, and enhancing processes through automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly accounting processes for a diverse portfolio of intricate investment strategies.
  • Conduct analytical reviews of monthly results, proactively communicating any known or anticipated risks, significant transactions, or anomalies to management.
  • Collaborate with investment groups and third-party administrators to comprehend investment strategies and ensure accurate accounting.
  • Engage early in the investment onboarding process, understanding investment terms, legal entity structures, tax implications, and evaluating appropriate accounting treatments.
  • Thoroughly research and document technical accounting position papers for both new and existing investment positions.
  • Work with various organizational groups, providing ad hoc information and analysis to investment teams, FP&A, treasury, tax, risk, and relevant business leaders.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations to support transactions and account balances, investigating and resolving any necessary corrective actions.
  • Review financial statements and other deliverables monthly to ensure accuracy and provide oversight.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and support the annual audit process as required.
  • Seek and share knowledge, identify opportunities for process enhancements and automation, challenge existing practices, and propose solutions.
  • Promote the Principle-Based Management culture within the team by applying and reinforcing the company's Guiding Principles.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in Accounting, Audit, Financial Analysis, Investments, Trading, or a similar role.
  • Working knowledge or the ability to independently research and understand complex accounting transactions such as investments, derivatives, and VIE/consolidation analysis.
  • Ability to conduct technical accounting research and document positions in an organized manner.
  • Analytical mindset; capable of evaluating information, challenging appropriately, and identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Effective communication skills to present financial concepts and investment transactions to various internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborative approach that seeks to build relationships and bridge gaps between partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CGMA, CMA, CPA, or a Master's Degree in Accounting.
  • Experience with large ERP systems, such as SAP or Infor.
  • Familiarity with accounting consolidation reporting systems like OneStream or HFM.
  • Experience with data manipulation and visualization tools such as Excel macros, SQL/VBA, Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx.
  • Prior experience in Public Accounting or Corporate Accounting within a large organization.
