This position offers the flexibility of remote or hybrid work arrangements.

The Fund Controller is responsible for ensuring the precision of financial data in accordance with client-specific accounting methods, while also guaranteeing compliance with reporting timelines. A strong capability to interpret investment legal documents and apply US GAAP principles relevant to investment entities is essential. The Controller will leverage professional expertise, innovative technology, and effective processes to manage client relationships.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily client interactions, adeptly addressing inquiries and requests while providing insights on private equity accounting and reporting.
  • Facilitate communication between clients and internal teams, managing all necessary documentation associated with these discussions.
  • Analyze capital structures of investments to ascertain the requisite accounting and data requirements between the investment and the fund.
  • Review capital calls, distributions, and valuation activities pertaining to client investments.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of client reports and financial statements, meeting all internal and external reporting deadlines.
  • Conduct technical research and apply US GAAP principles to accounting matters related to investment companies and their associated issues.
  • Lead and coordinate a team to comprehend client needs and deliver high-quality services efficiently and punctually.
  • Streamline and document processes as necessary.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by management to support ongoing client development.
  • Supervise team members to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
  • Collaborate effectively with technology and support staff, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of system capabilities and best practices.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; a Graduate Degree is preferred.
  • CPA licensure is required.
  • Extensive technical experience in investment accounting, with a strong grasp of partnership and investment company accounting.
  • Proven ability to resolve intricate accounting challenges.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience.
  • Experience with Big 4 public accounting is preferred, particularly in conjunction with partnership accounting, investment company accounting, or real estate accounting.
  • Proficiency in financial statement preparation, including consolidations and footnotes.
  • Familiarity with foreign currency translation and related accounting issues.
  • A demonstrated history of leadership and employee development.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships across various business sectors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in managing and developing team members.
  • Capability to organize complex, time-sensitive projects.
  • Proficient in accounting systems and related technologies.
