The Department of Surgery is offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time Registered Nurse 1 position. The selected candidate will provide patient-family centered care in a culturally sensitive manner, employing evidence-based practices to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and service while addressing the specific needs of diverse patient populations.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
  • Registered Nurse License and Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) are mandatory.
  • No prior experience is necessary.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Facilitates clinical functions within the scope of practice across all Divisions in the Department of Surgery.
  • Assists with in-person, virtual, and/or telephone inquiries related to patient care.
  • Effectively communicates with Physicians and mid-level providers to address and resolve medical issues.
  • Acts as a clinical resource for surgical scheduling, patient access, and other non-clinical teams within the Department of Surgery.
  • Builds relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff to enhance intra and interdepartmental processes.
  • Coordinates care across multiple departments, agencies, and organizations.
  • Responsible for completing medical-related documentation such as FMLA and DWC-25 forms.
  • Engages with insurance companies to secure necessary approvals for surgical procedures and treatments.
  • Contacts external providers and hospitals to obtain medical records.
  • Documents all patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Serves as a professional role model and positively influences peer morale.
  • Supports additional departmental functions as required.

Important Note: The University of Miami-UHealth System mandates that all newly hired Registered Nurses possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). If an offer is extended to a Registered Nurse lacking a BSN, the nurse must enroll in an accredited BSN program within three months of employment and graduate within two years. Verification of enrollment must be submitted to Human Resources by the three-month deadline. Non-compliance will result in termination of employment.
