Position Overview:

The Cardiology Department is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our team at UHealth Tower.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient population, conducting assessments and treatments independently while collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure effective management of illnesses and injuries, including diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, with the authority to prescribe medications and order necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Guide patients on ongoing care and wellness strategies.
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and document detailed health histories, functioning autonomously to gather age-appropriate information.

Clinical Duties:
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests tailored to the patient's age-specific needs.
  • Implement treatment plans to support patients in achieving or maintaining physiological stability.
  • Assist in care provision in alignment with facility, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Facilitate patient transitions within various healthcare settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care through appropriate referrals.
  • Provide educational resources to support decision-making for patients and their families.
  • Adhere to institutional policies and safeguard organizational assets.
  • Supervise cardiovascular stress testing, including Stress Echocardiography and Pharmacological Stress Testing.
  • Interpret Electrocardiograms and recognize arrhythmias.
  • Identify deviations from normal in physical assessments and collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans.
  • Write prescriptions based on laboratory results and clinical protocols.
  • Initiate and manage clinical research protocols while coordinating patient care with research teams.
  • Gather comprehensive medical histories independently.
  • Order relevant laboratory tests in accordance with practice guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and assess care plans tailored to patient and family needs.
  • Participate actively in quality assurance and peer review initiatives.
  • Support physicians in patient care and treatment processes.
  • Administer nursing assessments, including examinations and injections, to evaluate patient health status.
  • Assess the severity of patient conditions and direct them to appropriate medical providers.

Education Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Advanced Registered Nursing.
  • Current licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida.
  • Must be credentialed to practice by the Hospital Medical Board.

Work Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in supervising cardiology stress testing and interpreting electrocardiograms.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations.
  • Proficient in applying professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and tact in all interactions.
