Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Oncology is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to patients with cancer. This role involves independent assessment and treatment of patients, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and detailed health histories.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests tailored to the patient's specific needs.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and therapeutic interventions.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Facilitate patient transitions within various healthcare settings.
  • Provide education and resources to patients and their families regarding ongoing care.

Survivorship Program Duties:
  • Initiate and manage the Survivorship Care Plan during the patient's initial visit.
  • Evaluate the physical and emotional well-being of patients through comprehensive assessments.
  • Discuss treatment-related effects and coordinate care with other specialists.
  • Ensure follow-up appointments are scheduled prior to patient discharge.

High-Risk Clinic Responsibilities:
  • Engage in the development of high-risk cancer assessment protocols.
  • Provide education on cancer prevention and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with community resources to enhance patient care.

Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.

Licensing:
Valid APRN license in the state of Florida.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in oncology.

Skills:
Strong analytical and organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
