The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Oncology is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to patients with cancer. This role involves independent assessment and treatment of patients, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and detailed health histories.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests tailored to the patient's specific needs.
- Prescribe appropriate medications and therapeutic interventions.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Facilitate patient transitions within various healthcare settings.
- Provide education and resources to patients and their families regarding ongoing care.
Survivorship Program Duties:
- Initiate and manage the Survivorship Care Plan during the patient's initial visit.
- Evaluate the physical and emotional well-being of patients through comprehensive assessments.
- Discuss treatment-related effects and coordinate care with other specialists.
- Ensure follow-up appointments are scheduled prior to patient discharge.
High-Risk Clinic Responsibilities:
- Engage in the development of high-risk cancer assessment protocols.
- Provide education on cancer prevention and treatment options.
- Collaborate with community resources to enhance patient care.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
Licensing:
Valid APRN license in the state of Florida.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in oncology.
Skills:
Strong analytical and organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
