UHealth Tower's Wound Management department is seeking a dedicated full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist.


The Clinical Nurse Specialist delivers patient-centered care with cultural competence, utilizing and promoting evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring adherence to population-specific nursing processes.


  • Conducts thorough assessments and meticulously documents patient interactions and observations, adhering to unit standards, including age and cultural considerations, care management, and education; makes necessary referrals.
  • Exhibits advanced competency in the area of practice.
  • Administers and accurately maintains records related to medications and treatments in accordance with regulatory bodies, policies, and procedures.
  • Reassesses and documents the effectiveness of interventions per established guidelines and protocols; evaluates diagnoses/problems on the care plan based on the patient's status.
  • Communicates the care plan clearly and effectively to patients, families, and relevant team members.
  • Engages in the development of policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of care; critically examines treatments to ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Represents nursing staff by actively participating in committees and task forces.
  • Initiates discharge planning upon admission; utilizes available resources to facilitate discharge preparation, involving patients and their support networks in the care plan.
  • Manages personal workload and time efficiently, prioritizing assignments to ensure timely completion.
  • Adapts to evolving work demands and environments, anticipating potential issues and assisting leadership in developing contingency plans.
  • Evaluates the performance of other staff in providing care; offers constructive feedback to colleagues and leadership.
  • Serves as a mentor to students and new staff as required.
  • Acts as Charge Nurse or Resource Nurse when necessary.
  • Initiates unit-level projects that significantly impact patient care, cost reduction, safety, and/or patient experience.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's degree (BSN) preferred. RNs with an Associate's (ASN) degree are required to complete the BSN within two years.

Certification and Licensing:

  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, ACLS, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association are required.
  • Wound Care Certification (WCC) is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Proficient in effective communication, both oral and written.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Understanding of nursing care methods and procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (e.g., sanitation, decontamination).
  • Exceptional patient experience skills.
  • Ability to mentor nurses and allied health staff.
  • Capacity to recognize, analyze, and resolve a variety of issues.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
