Position Overview

The Lead Banking Specialist is tasked with embodying the values and mission of BankTalent HQ while engaging with both the public and colleagues. This role is pivotal in enhancing the customer experience, achieving operational excellence, meeting performance targets, making informed decisions, and contributing to the overall success of the bank and its team. The Lead Banking Specialist fosters robust customer relationships by conducting various transactions, recommending suitable products and services aligned with the bank's objectives, and assisting customers with inquiries and problem-solving as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Engagement - Cultivates a deep understanding of customer needs and expectations, offering tailored products and services. Drives new business by building and nurturing customer relationships, leveraging business partners as necessary. The Lead Banking Specialist is well-versed in all aspects of Banker II responsibilities and possesses skills in home equity closings, basic wire approvals, lost check processing, service recovery, fraud claims, and managing complex business accounts. This role supports branch supervisors in delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  • Operational Proficiency - Guarantees the quality and accuracy of work performed. Demonstrates comprehensive technical knowledge of bank products and services. Displays expertise in the bank's digital offerings and serves as a resource for customers and colleagues. Responsible for branch settlement, basic troubleshooting of recyclers, and branch opening and closing as required. Remains updated on alerts and company communications, adhering to compliance, security, and risk protocols. Maintains proficiency in regulatory compliance and complies with all bank policies regarding confidentiality and other matters. Executes overrides and exceptions judiciously and seeks assistance when necessary.
  • Collaborative Teamwork - Actively participates in the branch team, identifying tasks that need attention and stepping in as required. Aids branch supervisors in implementing bank policies, procedures, and initiatives. Acts as a resource for fellow team members and supports branch supervisors in fostering a positive work environment.
  • Professional Credibility - Completes tasks and assignments reliably, managing time and priorities effectively while demonstrating adaptability. Communicates ideas clearly and professionally through written, verbal, and electronic means. Supports the strategic goals of the branch, division, and bank. May perform the duties of a Senior Banker II, Senior Banker III, or Assistant Branch Manager in their absence, including opening or closing the branch and being the designated banker for the day. Undertakes Banker responsibilities as necessary.
  • Informed Decision Making - Makes consistent and dependable decisions aligned with the bank's values and standards. Utilizes knowledge, experience, and insights to recommend solutions and is adept at recognizing and preventing fraud.
  • Additional Duties - Assists the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager in maintaining the branch facilities. Performs functions within the scope of authority to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and colleagues. Undertakes other related and unrelated duties as required.
Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Some college education is preferred.
Experience
  • A minimum of 18 months of experience in banking or a similar customer service role is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in basic mathematical principles and capable of performing fundamental calculations.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, sales, organization, communication, and interpersonal relations.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Intermediate technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, are required.
  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends is necessary.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and work location is expected.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds is required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Must obtain Notary Public designation within six months of employment.
