MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human and social service agency dedicated to supporting children and families in need since its inception by the Sisters of Mercy/Hermanas de las Misericordia in 1894. Our organization continues to meet the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens, and throughout Long Island through innovative treatments and transformative interventions. Each year, we assist over 3,000 children, teenagers, and families in overcoming significant challenges, reimagining their futures, and realizing their full potential.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND:
The Human Resources Department oversees the entire employee life cycle, which includes recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, benefits administration, employee relations, staff training and development, performance management, and separation.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This role involves providing support in recruitment and various functions within the human resources department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with computerized human resources software are highly preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding to meet specific departmental needs.
  • Conduct pre-employment tasks, including necessary background checks.
  • Perform employee reference checks.
  • Help schedule interviews.
  • Stay informed about new developments and trends in human resources, including relevant laws.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through consultations, institutes, and conferences.
  • Maintain proficiency with all required vendor software necessary for job responsibilities.
  • Support audit processes.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
