Legrand offers a compelling opportunity for a Firmware Automated Test Engineer within the Data Center Power & Control Division. Under the guidance of the Director of Firmware Engineering, the Firmware Automated Test Engineer is responsible for overseeing and executing the evaluation and testing processes for firmware and software that operate within or interface with our NET+OS and Linux-based Power Distribution Units (PDUs).

This role involves the development and implementation of testing methodologies (both manual and automated), meticulous documentation of test outcomes, debugging of source code issues, and providing insightful recommendations or modifications to enhance software performance based on testing results.

The Firmware Automated Test Engineer will also work collaboratively with management to optimize operations, utilize programming languages to develop testing scripts, document software testing protocols and outcomes, and engage with end users to address any issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and assess various integrated software and hardware systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans for all PDU firmware features.
  • Create and implement automated testing scripts utilizing appropriate software tools.
  • Document and present findings from tests and analyses.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and document any unresolved issues.
  • Assist in determining the root causes of reported problems, including those found in source code, and propose changes for review and integration.
  • Track bugs and issues using a software bug-tracking system.
  • Advise programmers and system analysts on potential program enhancements or revisions.
  • Manage and maintain testing resources, including physical space, IP addresses, networks, power, PDUs, and servers.
  • Provide updates and information to Technical Support and customers to aid in problem resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries from Technical Support and users regarding software functionalities and operations.
  • Support technical assistance when customer issues related to PDUs remain unresolved.
  • Perform additional job functions as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in creating scripts and utilizing scripting languages such as Python.
  • Strong management skills, including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of conveying information across various departments including Engineering, Technical Support, Product Management, and Sales.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project); familiarity with Linux, virtualization platforms, Active Directory (LDAP), RADIUS, TACACS+, major web browsers, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, web APIs, TCP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, SMTP, SSL, FTP, SFTP, SSH, and Serial Communications.
  • Knowledgeable in working with diverse networks and MIB browsers, as well as various testing tools.
  • Familiarity with Bug Tracking Software.
  • Understanding of ISO 9000 standards.
