Legrand presents a unique opportunity for a Firmware Automated Test Engineer to contribute to the Data Center Power & Control Division. This role involves working under the guidance of the Director of Firmware Engineering to oversee the evaluation and testing of firmware and software that operates within our NET+OS and Linux-based Power Distribution Units (PDUs).

The Firmware Automated Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing testing strategies, both manual and automated, documenting outcomes, troubleshooting code issues, and suggesting enhancements or modifications to optimize software performance based on testing feedback.

Collaboration with management is essential to enhance operational efficiency. The engineer will utilize programming languages to develop testing scripts, maintain comprehensive documentation of testing protocols and outcomes, and engage with end users to address any technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, configure, and evaluate various integrated software and hardware systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans for all aspects of PDU firmware.
  • Create and implement automated testing scripts utilizing specialized software tools.
  • Document and communicate test findings and analyses effectively.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and document unresolved technical issues.
  • Assist in determining root causes of reported problems, including code-level issues, and propose changes for review.
  • Track and manage bugs and fixes using a software bug-tracking system.
  • Advise programmers and system analysts on potential program enhancements or revisions.
  • Oversee the management and configuration of testing resources, including physical space and network infrastructure.
  • Provide updates and support to Technical Support and customers for problem resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries from Technical Support and users regarding software functionalities.
  • Support technical assistance efforts when customer issues are unresolved.
  • Perform additional job functions as required.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
  • Strong management skills, including planning and coordination.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information across various departments.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with Linux, virtualization platforms, and various network protocols.
  • Knowledge of bug tracking software and familiarity with ISO 9000 standards.
