About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Technician to join our team at GlaxoSmithKline. As an Instrumentation Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the instrumentation used for the operation of manufacturing, process, and facility equipment at our biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide maintenance and repair services to support the biopharmaceutical process, including repairs and calibration maintenance to process control instrumentation, safety instrumented systems, or other instrumentation for manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintain, repair, calibrate, and install control elements, including sensors, switches, transmitters, positioners, signal conditioners, and related devices.
  • Use Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Input/Output (I/O) schematics, logic diagrams, and diagnostic tools to locate, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning equipment within a process control or electrical system.
  • Safely shutdown, lock out, and perform verification of zero energy for systems or equipment to allow for inspection, maintenance, or renovation to instrumentation and control systems.
  • Use calibration and other computer system databases by entering information, retrieving records, and generating reports.
  • Coordinate with vendors to procure replacement instrumentation and related hardware, and provide support to ensure that the instrumentation spare parts inventory is maintained.
  • Work independently or in a team setting in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other applicable regulations to perform routine and non-routine (corrective) maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with the maintenance group, line managers, and internal customers at the facility, including production, engineering, validation, QC, and QA teams.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years' experience as an instrument technician in an industrial (oil, nuclear, power, manufacturing) or pharmaceutical environment with maintenance responsibility.
  • Familiarity with cGMP's, regulatory guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
  • Understanding of P&IDs, electrical, and I/O schematics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational-technical school graduate / associate's degree, certified training via established trade organizations (i.e., ISA, mechanical / piping / electrical trades).
  • Ability to perform job duties with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work in a multifunctional team environment.
  • Knowledge of upgrading and installing controlled manufacturing equipment and calibration database instrumentation and calibration.
