Job Title: Senior Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our team at Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS). As a Senior Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

About the Role:

The Senior Scientist will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, administering, and upgrading GIS products (data, maps, scripts, applications) and systems. This includes:

  • Devise imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions requiring evaluation of standards and processes.
  • Coordinate execution of assigned projects.
  • Serve as lead on teams requiring coordination with other teams.
  • Assist in researching and developing integration and solution pathways for various enterprise systems, databases, users, and products.
  • Leverage built-in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) development tools as well as open-source code to create original/custom database-driven solutions using structured software development methodologies and standard programming languages.
Responsibilities:

The Senior Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a firm understanding of the existing GIS databases, data models, and applications.
  • Staying abreast of application and process changes.
  • Collecting, documenting, inputting, verifying, and tracking GIS data and products.
  • Preparing and performing QA reviews of GIS data reports.
  • Developing system, application, and training documents.
  • Developing and maintaining a firm understanding of existing enterprise database models/structures/processes and related applications.
  • Assisting in collecting user requirements, researching workflows and data structures, exploring design options, and developing project estimates.
  • Assisting in developing application upgrade strategies.
  • Assisting in evaluating and developing solutions to mitigate cyber security vulnerabilities.
  • Designing and performing quality/anomaly checks on a variety of GIS products.
  • Assisting in designing, developing, troubleshooting, maintaining/upgrading GIS systems.
  • Developing and conducting user training on GIS applications and tools.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a calculus-based technical (STEM) field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining spatial software products, especially those based on the Esri platform.
  • Experience with C#, Python, HTML/CSS,.NET Framework/Core.
  • Firm understanding of relational database and data governance principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary range of $97,000 to $145,516.80 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a pension, and a 401(k) plan.
