About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Execution Deputy to the Nevada Programs Council at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). This role will play a critical part in articulating LLNL's priorities for work at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure effective execution of programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the LLNL Nevada Programs Council by communicating its priorities to stakeholders and ensuring the council is aware of technical and programmatic progress.
  • Manage integration efforts between the Laboratory and other organizations in Nevada, including JLON, LANL, NNSS, and the NFO, to influence and gain cooperation as necessary.
  • Partner with Laboratory Program organizations to guide, develop, and execute high-hazard/high-consequence experiments, projects, tests, or demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with LLNL's Programs and technical organizations to define NNSS-specific requirements for infrastructure and support needs for LLNL Programs at the NNSS.
  • Conduct, direct, participate, and contribute to various project and design reviews and management self-assessments.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to a large team of engineers, scientists, and technicians to ensure effective and efficient implementation and activation of programmatic capabilities.
  • Monitor defined schedules and activities, and provide regular updates, assessments, recommendations, and/or solutions to programmatic leadership regarding progress on milestones, plans, and complex resourcing/technical problems.
  • Represent the programmatic interests of LLNL to senior leadership at the NNSS, the NFO, and the NPO.
Requirements
  • Active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Highly advanced experience with nuclear facility operations, hazard classification, and assessment of nuclear and non-nuclear high-hazard facilities and working knowledge of the Nevada National Security Site and NNSA Field Office.
  • Subject matter expert knowledge of one or more of the following: materials management, assurances, facility safety systems, industrial hygiene, criticality safety, and/or chemical processing.
  • Significant experience effectively leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Extensive experience managing multi-disciplinary projects from initiation to closure.
  • Experience working on implementation of National Security projects related to nuclear facilities and flexibility to work in multiple types of safety and safety significant systems.
  • Highly advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills necessary to champion, lead, and develop innovative cutting-edge solutions on a wide variety of technical and programmatic issues.
  • Expert communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to effectively present, explain, influence, and advise senior management and/or external sponsors.
  • Ability to travel extensively between Las Vegas, NV, and Livermore, CA, or other DOE complex sites as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of LLNL activities at the NNSS.
  • Familiarity with high explosive and fissile material hazards.
  • Significant experience working at the NNSS, including extensive knowledge of the site's policies, operating procedures, and facility safety bases.
