Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is responsible for the management and operation of the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) under the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our mission is to safeguard the security of the United States and its allies by providing advanced experimentation and incident response capabilities through a range of services including operations, engineering, education, and integration, while also serving as environmental stewards of the Site's historical legacy.

Responsibilities

The Stockpile Experimentation and Operations (SEO) division is seeking a dynamic leader with expertise in management and diagnostic fielding to oversee a team of technicians, scientists, and engineers. This team is responsible for the design, development, characterization, and analysis of weapons physics data and field diagnostics essential for stockpile stewardship experiments conducted at the NNSS.

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage the technical, budgetary, and functional performance of the team while ensuring the safe and effective delivery of high-quality services aligned with the NNSA mission.
  • Provide operational leadership for approximately 80 professionals executing the NNSA mission.
  • Collaborate with project management teams and laboratory customers to identify the necessary technical skills and leadership requirements.
  • Work with project managers to ensure the availability of resources for mission delivery and maintain operational funding.
  • Achieve financial objectives by forecasting needs, preparing budgets, and analyzing variances.
  • Lead the creation of procedures and work controls for the safe operation of stockpile stewardship testbeds.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to develop strategic operating plans that address operational requirements for dynamic weapons experiments.
  • Encourage a culture of professional development and inclusion, fostering growth opportunities for staff.
  • Communicate operational requirements effectively to management and external partners.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and reduce costs.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 17 years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to foster teamwork, mentor employees, and manage conflict effectively.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and a breadth of experience to inspire and motivate others.
  • Ability to negotiate creative solutions and enhance productivity.
  • Comfortable engaging with all levels of employees, from front-line staff to executive leadership.

The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada, with potential for remote work in accordance with company policy. A pre-placement physical examination, including a drug screen, is required, and a valid driver's license is necessary.
