Job Summary:
The Educational Service Center of Central Ohio is seeking a highly skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Student Services department, you will play a critical role in providing evaluations, IEP-based interventions, and accommodations to help students with special needs travel safely and independently in the learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' mobility needs and develop personalized plans to support their independence.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other educational professionals to implement IEP-based interventions and accommodations.
- Provide training and support to students, teachers, and staff on orientation and mobility techniques and strategies.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in the field of orientation and mobility to ensure the highest level of service delivery.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of the national ACVREP certification exam.
- Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist certificate from the Ohio Department of Education.
- Documentation of a clear criminal record.
- Compliance with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Dual TVI/COMS certification.
- Experience working with students with special needs in a public suburban school setting.
