Job Summary

The BSW Clinician - Mobile Response Specialist at Nationwide Children's Hospital is responsible for facilitating crisis-oriented triage, assessment, and other appropriate mental health screenings and interventions. This role involves providing face-to-face mobile responses to patients and families, assisting with the management of psychiatric and/or behavioral health concerns occurring within various settings.

Key Responsibilities

Completes telephone consultation, screening, and triage to determine needs and desires of individuals and families calling through the crisis hotline, in collaboration with Telecrisis Team.
Provides trauma-informed and culturally competent crisis intervention, risk assessment, de-escalation, collaborative safety planning, psychoeducation, and recommendations during mobile response.
Recommends disposition for least restrictive level of care, utilizing case conceptualization. Staffing and supervision required for disposition. Takes the lead in seeking supervision and implementing treatment plans for cases co-managed with non-licensed team members.
Coordinates services for assigned families and collaborates to identify skills, supports, resources, and services to assist with stabilizing the crisis and preventing future crises from occurring. Provides care coordination, collaboration, and a warm handoff of with current behavioral health providers, natural supports, and other systems involved.
Initiates mandatory reporting of abuse and/or neglect to Child Protective Services or other applicable agencies per Ohio law.

Requirements

Bachelors degree from an accredited university or professional school.
Appropriate social work (LSW) licensure required.
Upon hire, must complete and pass NCH endorsed Crisis Management Training.

Working Conditions

This role requires occasional reaching above shoulder, lifting or carrying up to 10 lbs, exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids, exposure to communicable diseases and/or pathogens, exposure to loud noises, working at heights, exposure to hot and/or cold temperatures, assisting with physical holds/manual restraints, escorts of agitated or aggressive patients. The role also requires frequent bending/twisting, squatting/kneeling, climbing stairs/ladder, standing, walking, sitting, flexing/extending of neck, driving motor vehicles, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, seeing-far and near.
