Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Executive Communications to join our team at Stanford University. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a range of communications for the university's provost and other senior leaders.

Your primary focus will be on crafting compelling written, oral, and digital communications that effectively convey the university's message and priorities. You will work closely with the Senior Director, Executive Communications, to develop and execute proactive communications strategies that build connections with key audiences and advance the university's goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute communications strategies for the provost and other senior leaders
  • Craft compelling written, oral, and digital communications that effectively convey the university's message and priorities
  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Executive Communications, to develop and execute proactive communications strategies
  • Collaborate with the University Communications digital team to develop and execute social media content
  • Manage the provost's website and other digital presences
  • Participate in crisis communications as needed
  • Provide support for the provost and other university leaders as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Exceptional writing and editing ability, including the ability to analyze and synthesize complex material and communicate it in a clear and compelling manner
  • Demonstrated ability to develop communications in the voice of a leader of an organization
  • Strong strategic and tactical thinking ability
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse and competing interests
  • Experience working with and advising senior leaders of an organization on communications strategy and execution
  • Experience developing content for social media platforms
  • Broad and deep understanding of the communications role in institutions
