ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7-10 years of leadership experience in design producibility, project management, production process innovation, Lean manufacturing practices, personnel development, HSE&F oversight, and problem-solving.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for guiding the process engineering team, overseeing manufacturing planning, facilities maintenance, and implementing general safety and environmental strategies. This role entails planning, coordinating, administering, and supervising the manufacturing process engineering activities within the organization. The manager collaborates with site and organizational personnel to devise and design methods to sustain, enhance, or optimize existing manufacturing processes. The position also involves developing and validating new production processes and upgrading current ones, ensuring a seamless transition into production. The individual acts as a consultant to the process engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Furthermore, the role includes analyzing and reviewing manufacturing budgets, schedules, and production needs to identify the most cost-effective and efficient resource acquisition methods. This individual will propose revisions or enhancements to schedules, resource allocations, and production standard operating procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong leadership skills in Health, Safety, Environmental, and Facilities management.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preventative maintenance, calibration, shelf life, and OSHA compliance tracking.
  • Advanced understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application.
  • Ability to support cross-functional teams with smart/digital factory initiatives.
  • Proficient in mechanical measurement and instrumentation.
  • Skilled in project planning and scheduling.
  • Expertise in production process development, line balancing, and layout implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, CAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Experience in production tooling and fixturing development and management.
  • Fundamental knowledge of manual and computerized machining processes.
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities, along with employee assessment and development skills.
  • Capacity to listen to and influence peers and team members to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Adept at managing multiple programs and tasks efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster and promote a culture of safety and environmental accountability.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality Control and manufacturing teams to ensure processes meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing equipment.
  • Work with management and manufacturing operations to establish quality and output objectives for current and future processes.
  • Evaluate the producibility of new designs through various process techniques and equipment capability assessments.
  • Set performance objectives, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations for staff.
  • Initiate and supervise Manufacturing Process Engineering projects related to the design and development of machines, production fixtures, and tools.
  • Develop production readiness plans for new designs.
  • Conduct or oversee Production Readiness Reviews as necessary.
  • Champion the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Manufacturing) and productivity enhancements.
  • Ensure updates to existing manufacturing standard procedures align with quality management system requirements.
  • Manage and monitor the manufacturing engineering budget and expenses.
  • Draft narratives for administrative and technical proposals regarding various manufacturing activities.
  • Recruit and train Manufacturing Process Engineering staff to support plant operations and prioritize their efforts.
  • Provide recommendations for personnel training and equipment needs.
  • Encourage an atmosphere of excellence, urgency, high energy, and exceptional communication.
