ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7-10 years of managerial experience in design producibility, project management, production process enhancement, Lean manufacturing practices, personnel development, health, safety, and environmental oversight, along with problem-solving capabilities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing process engineers, manufacturing planning, maintenance, and the implementation of safety and environmental strategies. This role entails planning, coordinating, and supervising the manufacturing process engineering activities within the organization. The manager collaborates with site and organizational teams to devise methods for maintaining, improving, or enhancing existing manufacturing processes. Additionally, the role involves developing and validating new production processes and upgrading current ones, ensuring a smooth transition into production. The individual acts as an advisor to the process engineering team regarding various projects and operations, while also analyzing manufacturing budgets, schedules, and production needs to determine the most efficient resource allocation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong leadership skills in Health, Safety, Environmental, and Facilities management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, preventative maintenance, calibration, and OSHA compliance tracking.
  • In-depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application.
  • Capability to support cross-functional teams in smart and digital factory initiatives.
  • Mechanical measurement and instrumentation expertise.
  • Project planning and scheduling proficiency.
  • Experience in production process development, line balancing, and layout optimization.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, CAD, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Experience in production tooling and fixture development.
  • Basic understanding of manual and computerized machining processes.
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities, along with employee assessment and development skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with peers and team members to foster a productive work culture.
  • Capability to manage multiple programs and tasks efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control and manufacturing teams to ensure processes meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing equipment.
  • Work with management and manufacturing operations to establish quality and output goals.
  • Evaluate the producibility of new designs through various process techniques and equipment capability studies.
  • Set performance goals, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations for staff.
  • Initiate and supervise Manufacturing Process Engineering tasks related to the design and development of machines and production tools.
  • Develop production readiness plans for new designs.
  • Conduct Production Readiness Reviews as necessary.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and productivity enhancements.
  • Ensure updates to manufacturing standard procedures align with quality management system requirements.
  • Manage and monitor the manufacturing engineering budget and expenses.
  • Prepare narratives for administrative and technical proposals regarding manufacturing activities.
  • Recruit and train Manufacturing Process Engineering staff to support plant operations.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, urgency, and effective communication.
