Position Overview

We are looking for a knowledgeable and meticulous Pharmacy Compliance Counsel to become an integral part of our legal and compliance division. This role demands significant expertise in pharmacy compliance regulations, alongside a robust legal foundation and a comprehensive grasp of the regulatory landscape affecting the pharmacy sector. The Pharmacy Compliance Counsel will be responsible for crafting and executing thorough compliance strategies to ensure that our operations align with all legal and regulatory mandates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Guidance: Offer expert legal counsel on pharmacy practice regulations and operational compliance, providing insights and support to various departments regarding compliance issues, regulatory interpretations, and necessary licensing.
  • Compliance Strategy Development: Take charge of the daily management and implementation of a comprehensive compliance strategy that aligns with both regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
  • Program Management: Design and oversee compliance programs that incorporate industry best practices aimed at minimizing compliance risks.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with various teams to embed compliance objectives within business processes, product development, and strategic initiatives.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Stay informed about current laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance practices remain effective and up-to-date.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies, external auditors, and legal representatives regarding compliance inquiries and investigations.
  • Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular updates to senior management and the board regarding compliance activities, findings, and recommendations, along with educational insights on evolving regulatory landscapes.
  • Risk Identification: Proactively identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate these issues before they arise.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.
  • 8+ years of legal experience in the healthcare sector, with a minimum of 5 years specifically in pharmacy compliance.
  • Thorough understanding of pharmacy regulations and the ability to navigate complex state regulatory environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of laws impacting pharmacy operations, including CSA, HIPAA, and FDA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of influencing and collaborating across all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proven capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PharmD degree.
  • Expertise in interpreting pharmacy regulations in both traditional and digital settings.
  • Experience in handling investigations and compliance challenges within the pharmacy sector.
  • Strong regulatory acumen with the ability to prioritize compliance initiatives effectively.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements across various pharmacy operation models.
  • Experience in both startup and established pharmacy environments.
  • Knowledge of accreditation and policy management.

  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions.
  • Close visual acuity for data analysis and extensive reading.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels.
  • Frequent use of hands and wrists for computer operations.
  • Occasional exposure to varying environmental conditions.
