Position Overview
We are looking for a seasoned and meticulous Pharmacy Compliance Counsel to become a vital part of our legal and compliance team. This role necessitates substantial expertise in advising various stakeholders on pharmacy compliance regulations, experience in designing compliance programs, a robust legal foundation, and a thorough understanding of the regulatory landscape, risk management, and governance practices pertinent to the pharmacy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Guidance: Provide expert legal counsel on pharmacy operational laws and regulations, offering support to departments and business units regarding compliance issues, including regulatory interpretations and licensing requirements.
- Compliance Strategy Development: Take ownership of the compliance strategy, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and organizational goals.
- Program Management: Create and oversee compliance programs, integrating best practices to prevent and mitigate compliance risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various teams to embed compliance objectives into business processes and strategic initiatives.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about relevant laws and industry standards to ensure compliance practices remain effective and up-to-date.
- Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors regarding compliance inquiries and investigations.
- Reporting: Prepare and present compliance activity reports to senior management, highlighting findings and recommendations.
- Risk Identification: Proactively identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to address them before they escalate.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.
- 8+ years of legal experience in healthcare, with a minimum of 5 years in the pharmacy sector.
- Thorough understanding of pharmacy regulations and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Strong knowledge of compliance principles and relevant laws affecting pharmacy operations.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PharmD degree.
- Experience interpreting Board of Pharmacy regulations in various pharmacy settings.
- Prior experience managing compliance-related investigations within the pharmacy industry.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements across diverse pharmacy operations.
- Experience in both startup and established pharmacy environments.
