Program Overview:
Brooklyn Community Services is a leading non-sectarian social services organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals and families in Brooklyn. Our programs serve over 10,000 individuals each year, focusing on education, family support, and fostering self-sufficiency among adults. The Transitional Living Shelter program is designed to assist young women in achieving employment and securing permanent housing.

Role Summary:
The Employment Support Specialist plays a vital role in empowering clients to secure sustainable employment and achieve independence. This position is crucial for providing support to young women experiencing homelessness, aged 18-25. The specialist will cultivate and sustain relationships with employers to identify job opportunities that align with client skills and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research and outreach to potential employers to gather detailed information about job openings.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with employers to facilitate job placements.
- Stay informed on labor market trends and economic data to identify emerging job opportunities.
- Assist clients in customizing resumes and cover letters, coaching them on essential soft skills, and conducting mock interviews.
- Provide individualized coaching and group workshops to enhance job seekers' employability.
- Document client progress and employer interactions meticulously, ensuring accurate records for reporting purposes.
- Analyze client needs and match them with suitable job descriptions.
- Develop workplace skills and behaviors necessary for successful internships and employment.
- Propose qualified candidates to employers based on job requirements.
- Review job applications to ensure alignment with employer expectations.
- Prepare monthly reports and maintain communication with referral sources and service providers.
- Participate in recruitment events and job fairs as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. with two years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Human Services preferred.
- Strong counseling and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Capacity to engage effectively with staff, employers, and community organizations.
- Completion of fingerprinting and criminal background checks is required.
