Position Overview

This role focuses on enhancing the academic success of student-athletes who may be facing challenges in their educational journey.

Department Responsibilities

  • Offers personalized educational support to student-athletes identified as academically vulnerable, promoting their growth as independent learners.
  • Facilitates academic skills workshops aimed at small groups of student-athletes, while closely monitoring the academic progress of those at risk.
  • Regularly communicates academic updates through weekly reports to the academic advising team, collaborating with the Initial Eligibility Officer to pinpoint at-risk student-athletes and devise effective support strategies for newcomers.

General Responsibilities

  • Creates and disseminates reports detailing enrollment statistics, retention rates, progress towards degree completion, and graduation metrics for key stakeholders in enrollment management and student services.
  • Participates in committees and collaborates with fellow student services professionals to gain insights into the complete student experience and common obstacles to retention and graduation.
  • Designs and executes retention initiatives, programs, and targeted communications to enhance student enrollment and retention outcomes.
  • Conducts proactive outreach and engages directly with at-risk students, connecting them with essential resources to overcome barriers to academic success.
  • Analyzes enrollment data to assess the effectiveness of current processes, serving as a resource for academic departments and programs to achieve enrollment objectives.
  • Conducts industry research and provides recommendations for process enhancements aligned with best practices.

Qualifications

Consideration will be given to combinations of relevant education and experience. Additional education may substitute for work experience and vice versa.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, or a related discipline.

Work Experience

  • Required: Minimum of 2 years in enrollment management, admissions, student services, higher education, or a related area.
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience in student services, college athletics, or academic support; educational training in counseling or higher administration; experience assisting students with cognitive or non-cognitive challenges to graduation.

Skills

  • Required: Strong communication abilities, professionalism, effective time management, commitment to quality, adaptability in a dynamic environment, thoroughness, dependability, accuracy under pressure, and a dedication to working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to interpret federal, state, and institutional regulations and compliance procedures.

Working Conditions

This position requires effective communication skills and proficiency in operating standard office equipment. The role involves both sedentary tasks and mobility within an office and campus environment, with the ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
