Medication Administration Specialist

Easterseals Iowa is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Medication Administration Specialist. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of our campers at Camp Sunnyside.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
  • Adhere to established medical protocols, including accurate record-keeping and the safe handling of medications.
  • Conduct inventory and manage the administration of medications within the health center.
  • Assist in data entry for Medication Administration Records (MARS) and maintain communication with guardians and caregivers.
  • Organize and maintain MARS and related documentation.
  • Provide first aid support to campers and staff as needed.
  • Ensure the health center is kept clean and orderly.
  • Support team members in fulfilling care and supervision requirements in line with organizational protocols.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of each camper's medication needs, including the effects and potential side effects of medications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and safety regulations.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in accordance with program standards.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Certification in an approved medication management program is required.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to accept guidance and work collaboratively with team members.
  • Physical capability to bend, lift, and move items weighing up to eighty pounds.
  • Must complete CPR and First Aid training within the initial employment period.
  • Successful completion of Mandatory Reporter training within the first month of employment.
  • Must adhere to the medication administration policies of Easterseals.
  • Must have reliable transportation for work-related duties.

The interview process will include an initial phone interview followed by a team leader interview.
