The Radiation Therapy Specialist administers ionizing radiation to patients across various age groups, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations, following the directives and prescriptions provided by the Radiation Oncologist, while operating under the general oversight of the Chief Therapist.

This role involves educating, preparing, and reassuring patients and their families by addressing inquiries, offering physical support, and reinforcing the medical team's guidance regarding treatment responses and post-treatment care.

Additionally, this position plays a vital role in the orientation and education of patients.



Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current registration as a Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or registry eligible.

  • Registry eligible new hires must complete the certification examination within the first 90 days of employment and achieve a passing score within the first 6 months.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Continued Employment:
Current RTT certification by ARRT and American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT) certification, including a minimum of 12 hours of documented continuing education annually.

Experience:

REQUIRED:
No prior experience necessary.

PREFERRED:
One (1) year of relevant experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist.

Education/Training:

REQUIRED:
Graduate of an AMA accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology.

PREFERRED:
N/A

Independent Actions Required:
Operates with minimal supervision, seeking guidance from supervisors, physicians, or physics staff as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Additional Position Requirements:
Availability for on-call duties and extended hours based on patient load.

Physical:
Ability to lift 20-50 lbs and occasionally lift over 100 lbs.

Activities:
