Job Overview and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Senior Transportation Supervisor, the Senior Mobility Planner will assist in the formulation and enhancement of comprehensive transportation standards, policies, and procedures to facilitate the execution of the Department's directives for integrated transportation solutions. This role will also involve the oversight and assessment of the implementation of these directives across the state. The incumbent will collaborate with various functional units within the Department, including Planning, Design, and Maintenance, to weave integrated transportation principles into departmental policies and procedures.

This position will engage with external stakeholders through advisory committees to offer strategic insights and technical support on the Department's transportation initiatives. Additionally, the role will focus on innovative approaches to active transportation, such as providing training and guidance for rapid implementation projects, streamlining the permit process for active transportation, and more. The incumbent will represent the transportation planning team in diverse committees, workgroups, and meetings, and will contribute to the revision of the Transportation Action Plan and the creation of resources for the new transportation hub.

Working Conditions

The position is based in a climate-controlled office environment. While the office is equipped with artificial lighting, there may be occasional fluctuations in temperature due to maintenance issues. Some travel may be necessary, and the position may offer telework options, which will be determined by the Department's evolving policies. Employees are expected to report to their designated work locations as needed to meet operational requirements.

Special Requirements

Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. A valid driver's license is required for operating state-owned or leased vehicles. A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required.

The SOQ should detail how the applicant's education, training, experience, and skills align with the criteria outlined in the duty statement. Applicants should respond to specific questions in no more than two pages, using 11pt Calibri font and one-inch margins.

Applicants must provide a comprehensive overview of their education, work experience, and personal interest in integrated transportation or related fields. Candidates should describe their experience working collaboratively with various organizations and stakeholders, as well as their project management skills in developing effective transportation solutions. Candidates must demonstrate their interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written, necessary for managing projects and engaging with diverse audiences.
