We are currently seeking a Kitchen Fire Suppression Operations Manager to take charge of all responsibilities within this critical area. Reporting directly to the Director of Fire and Life Safety, you will manage the scheduling, training, and field operations associated with wet/dry chemical kitchen fire suppression system projects. Your role will encompass the supervision of all Field Service Technicians engaged in the inspection, testing, and maintenance of these systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 17A standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, and mentor all division personnel, including field technicians, coordinators, supervisors, dispatchers, and administrative staff.
  • Oversee the coordination of subcontractors and employees to ensure project-related tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Accountable for the planning, scheduling, execution, installation, billing, warranty management, and emergency response tasks.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to implement strategies that meet or exceed business objectives.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments and team members, including service technicians, accounting, sales representatives, project managers, and construction teams.
  • Manage daily operations to ensure seamless business functionality.
  • Monitor and report on P&L goals to manage costs associated with specific projects or service activities, ensuring alignment with the company's financial objectives.
  • Oversee all installation and service requirements, including material procurement and project scheduling, while maintaining fiscal responsibility and effective subcontractor management.
  • Work in partnership with the sales team to enhance branch growth and profitability.
  • Ensure proper control and calibration of inspection measuring tools and testing equipment.
  • Guarantee timely processing of work orders, including management of opening, closing, billing, costing, and performance reviews.
  • Establish and analyze department-specific metrics to coach supervisors on enhancing team performance.
  • Consistently report essential information to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Evaluate financial data and adjust operational budgets to support profitability.
  • Collaborate with human resources on recruitment, selection, counseling, and performance evaluations of team members.
  • Ensure timely administration of employee evaluations in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity regulations.
  • Manage on-call processes for technicians, including calendar synchronization and procedural adherence.
  • Continuously assess business procedures for efficiency and implement improvements as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in an operations supervisory or management role within the industry, encompassing planning, estimating, contracting, project management, and system servicing.
  • Experience with installation and maintenance of wet/dry chemical kitchen fire suppression systems.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, including training, team building, and effective communication with customers and management.
  • Ability to implement organizational changes in response to business needs.
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills for effective multitasking.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements, blueprints, contracts, and submittals.
  • Proficiency in forecasting business results using financial tools and processes.
  • Experience negotiating service and construction contracts.
  • Previous P&L management experience is advantageous.
  • Must obtain and retain NICET Level II in Special Hazard Fire Suppression Systems or higher within 24 months of employment.
  • Must obtain and retain ICC Pre-Engineered Kitchen and Industrial Fire Extinguishing Systems certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Must obtain and retain ICC Engineered Fire Suppression Systems certification within 12 months of employment.
  • General experience in designing and calculating wet/dry chemical fire suppression systems.
  • Experience with major fire suppression system manufacturers is preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal codes is preferred but will be required to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and other related software is essential.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company standards are required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time based on assigned geographic location.
