Overview

Acts as an Operations Supervisor within a high-level air traffic control terminal facility.

Key Responsibilities

Oversees and coordinates operations within assigned areas of authority. Provides direct supervision to a team of both novice and certified air traffic controllers. Manages a group of air traffic control specialists tasked with executing air traffic control duties within a designated region. Plans and allocates tasks to subordinate staff. Establishes work priorities and timelines. Authorizes leave; offers guidance, support, and instruction to team members on operational and administrative issues. Assesses employee performance and recommends evaluations. Addresses and resolves employee grievances and escalates significant unresolved issues to higher management. Identifies and organizes training and development opportunities for staff. Seeks methods to enhance productivity or elevate the quality of work performed. Adjusts staffing and operational procedures to align with strategic decisions made at higher management levels. Proposes objectives and targets for the unit and monitors progress. Promotes and upholds diversity and equal employment opportunity policies in all aspects of management, including recruitment, training, and transfers. Engages in the labor-management partnership process and cultivates a workplace culture where all employees are treated equitably.

Required Experience

Specialized Experience: 1) Must have served in an FAA 2152 FG-14 or higher regional or headquarters role for a minimum of one year; OR 2) Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least one year in an air traffic services facility. Note: Employees who have been facility rated or area certified for at least one year in an upgraded air traffic services facility meet the qualification criteria for the upgraded role; OR 3) Must have held a management position for at least one year in an air traffic services facility.

Qualifications must be fulfilled by the closing date of the application period.

Additional Information

This vacancy may be utilized to fill other similar positions. The selected candidate may be subject to a background investigation. A probationary period may be required.
