Your role and responsibilities

As an ABB Service Operations Specialist, you will be tasked with executing preventive and corrective maintenance, conducting tests, and diagnosing issues related to proprietary ABB Quality Control System (QCS) hardware and software. You will also support various projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced services. This role requires independent work as well as collaboration within a small site team. Although this position is remote, on-site work will be conducted at customer locations in the Grand Rapids, MN area and its surroundings. Successful candidates will reside in the vicinity. Relocation assistance is available. This role contributes to the Process Automation Process Industries division in the United States. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Collaborating with customers on-site to identify opportunities for operational enhancements and resolve challenges.
• Executing field service tasks, diagnosing technical issues, and performing analyses through remote or on-site activities in service categories and products for which you are certified.
• Compiling material lists necessary for service activities and ensuring the availability and quality of all materials, parts, and equipment.
• Providing training as needed for field service associates and customers.

Qualifications for the role
  • Associate's degree in a relevant field and 2+ years of experience in electrical/electronics, instrumentation, or process control, or a high school diploma/GED with 4+ years of related experience.
  • Mechanical/Electrical aptitude with a foundational understanding of electrical theory and safety.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and using basic hand tools for troubleshooting electrical systems, along with experience using electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters.
  • Ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical testing tools.
  • Knowledge of identifying voltage systems exceeding 240 VAC/870 VDC.
  • Familiarity with DCS programming and troubleshooting is advantageous. A basic understanding of the paper-making process and process control is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% for training and support at various sites.
  • Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.
