Position Summary:

We are in search of a skilled Engineering Project Lead to enhance our growing operational team. This role involves overseeing teams tasked with strategizing and executing projects aimed at optimizing energy consumption and enhancing utility systems within sectors such as Food Production, Dairy Processing, Pharmaceuticals, Bio-pharmaceuticals, and Healthcare.

The selected candidate will manage a project team and devise energy efficiency strategies for large-scale manufacturing environments, guiding projects from initial concept through detailed design and execution. Collaboration with engineers and project managers will be essential to ensure successful project delivery across various industrial sites. The systems targeted for energy performance enhancements include Chillers, Refrigeration Units, Heat Pumps, Combined Heat and Power systems, Heat Recovery, HVAC, Steam and Hot Water Systems, and process technologies, including Utilities Plant Room design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of engineers in the execution of multiple projects.
  • Design and estimate energy efficiency solutions that align with client expectations and project specifications.
  • Develop comprehensive Scope of Work and specification documents.
  • Oversee the tendering process and maintain communication with contractors.
  • Provide budget estimates as required.
  • Conduct condition assessments, feasibility studies, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Perform site evaluations to collect necessary information for design purposes.
  • Execute calculations, both manually and through computer-based systems.
  • Lead and oversee the production of design outputs.
  • Engage with other design team members and clients on technical issues.
  • Create supporting drawings and diagrams pertinent to project requirements.
  • Draft control system functional descriptions.
  • Review logistical and installation needs, including risk assessments.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, design teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend site progress meetings as necessary, including contractor oversight.
  • Assist and mentor design staff.
  • Maintain a strong focus on energy efficiency and sustainable design practices.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a background in designing and implementing utility systems, including HVAC, cooling processes, refrigeration, steam/hot water systems, heat pumps, heat recovery, combined heat and power systems, and renewable energy solutions.

Additional qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from any U.S. state.
  • Experience in industrial environments such as Dairy, Nutrition, Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, and Medical Device manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Preferred design experience with Industrial Utility Systems.
  • Strong understanding of energy calculations.
  • A proactive approach to ownership and accountability for projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (BS, ASME, API, etc.).
  • Understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Willingness to travel 10-25% to client sites as necessary.
