Advanced Practice Provider in Endocrinology

Position Overview:
The selected candidate will serve as an Advanced Practice Provider dedicated to the comprehensive care of individuals with endocrine disorders. This role is situated within a dynamic and established endocrine practice, collaborating closely with an existing endocrine APP. The division operates a robust outpatient endocrinology clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will engage in a variety of clinical duties, including:
- Conducting thorough assessments and diagnosing endocrine conditions.
- Implementing treatment plans and managing both acute and chronic health issues.
- Providing education and health promotion to patients and their families.
- Coordinating care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Managing patient consultations in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Work Schedule:
This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with scheduled shifts from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Patient Demographics:
The role encompasses care for adults across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department consultations.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess the following:
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN.
- Preferred: A minimum of 2 years of experience as a PA, FNP, or ANP.
Supervision:
The Advanced Practice Provider will work under the guidance of a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician affiliated with MUSC.
Licensure and Certifications:
All necessary certifications must be valid and up-to-date prior to the commencement of employment, including:
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Completion of DHEC and DEA license applications, if applicable.
Essential Duties:
The role involves:
- Performing comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
- Conducting inpatient rounds and coordinating care.
- Managing ambulatory clinic hours for outpatient treatment.
- Evaluating and treating patients based on clinical findings and diagnostic results.
- Facilitating referrals to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Documenting care provided and ensuring accurate billing.
- Engaging in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
- Participating in professional development and maintaining required certifications.
Physical Requirements:
The role necessitates the ability to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Candidates must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs and meeting specific vision and dexterity requirements.
