Position Overview:
The selected candidate will serve as an Advanced Practice Provider dedicated to the comprehensive care of individuals with neurological conditions. This role involves full-time engagement within a dynamic neurology practice alongside a Neurologist.

Practice Environment:
The Division encompasses both an outpatient neurology clinic and an inpatient hospital setting, providing a robust platform for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
The Advanced Practice Provider will undertake a variety of clinical duties, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting thorough patient assessments and formulating diagnoses.
  • Administering treatments and managing ongoing care for patients with both acute and chronic health issues.
  • Providing education and health promotion initiatives for patients and their families.
  • Coordinating care effectively across different healthcare settings.
  • Performing inpatient rounds and consults, as well as seeing patients in the outpatient clinic.

Work Schedule:
This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with scheduled hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Patient Demographics:
The focus will be on both inpatient and outpatient populations, primarily serving adults aged 18 and older.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess:

  • A completed accredited Physician Assistant program or an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience as a Physician Assistant, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Adult Nurse Practitioner is preferred.

Supervision:
The Advanced Practice Provider will work under the supervision of a designated Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC.

Licensure and Certifications:
All required certifications must be current prior to the start date, including Basic Life Support (BLS). Additionally, any necessary DHEC and DEA license applications must be initiated before commencing the role.

Essential Duties:
The Advanced Practice Provider will:

  • Perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Engage in inpatient rounds and coordinate care effectively.
  • Provide care in the outpatient clinic setting.
  • Evaluate and treat patients presenting with neurological symptoms.
  • Utilize diagnostic test results to inform treatment plans.
  • Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Document and bill for services rendered.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practices into clinical decision-making.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
  • Support compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in professional development and continuing education.
  • Possibly mentor students and new team members.

Physical Requirements:
The role necessitates the ability to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting, along with the capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Candidates must also be able to work in various environments, including those that may be dusty or confined.
