Advanced Practice Provider in Endocrinology

Position Overview:
The selected candidate will serve as an Advanced Practice Provider dedicated to the comprehensive care of individuals with endocrine disorders. This role is situated within a dynamic and successful endocrine practice that includes collaboration with another endocrine APP. The division operates a single outpatient endocrinology clinic, emphasizing a patient-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Conducting thorough assessments and formulating diagnoses.
- Implementing treatment plans and managing ongoing care.
- Providing education and promoting health for patients and their families.
- Coordinating care for both acute and chronic health conditions.
- Delivering clinical services primarily in an outpatient setting.
Work Schedule:
This position entails a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, with scheduled hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Patient Demographics:
The focus will be on managing care for adults across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN.
Preferred Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience as a PA, FNP, or ANP is preferred, although not mandatory.
Supervision:
The Advanced Practice Provider will work under the guidance of a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC.
Licensure and Certifications:
All necessary certifications must be valid and complete prior to the commencement of employment, including:
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Initiation of DHEC and DEA license applications, if applicable, before the first day of work.
Essential Duties:
The Advanced Practice Provider will engage in the following activities:
- Performing comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
- Conducting inpatient rounds and coordinating care.
- Providing outpatient clinic services to manage patient needs.
- Evaluating and treating patients based on clinical findings and diagnostic results.
- Facilitating referrals to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Documenting and billing for services rendered.
- Utilizing evidence-based practices in clinical decision-making.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
- Contributing to compliance and regulatory activities.
- Engaging in professional development and continuing education.
- Potentially mentoring students and new team members.
- Maintaining all required licenses and certifications as per state regulations.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods. Candidates must be capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs and performing tasks that require good manual dexterity.
