Job Summary

The Marine Propulsion Systems Leader plays a critical role in supporting the business by developing technical requirements, driving design decisions, identifying technical risks and mitigations, and guiding the program in meeting the certification/qualification timeline committed to the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of marine programs, ensuring technical quality excellence, timely completion of work, and reviews.
  • Provide key technical direction on large projects with critical business impact, ensuring alignment with certification agency requirements.
  • Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within the work group.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers.
  • Communicate with management on technical, financial, and programmatic issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical efforts.
  • Provide technical guidance and promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching, and counseling.
  • Conduct component and product integration, ensuring maximum performance and operability.
  • Manage product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow-down.
  • Drive validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system-level testing.
  • Define product requirements for modules, components, subcontractors, and partners.
  • Manage interfaces between components and execution organizations.
  • Manage the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
  • Develop specialized knowledge in their discipline.
  • Serve as a best practice/quality resource.
  • Stay aware of the latest technical developments in their area.
  • Contribute to strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within their area of responsibility.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of best practices and how their area integrates with others, as well as working knowledge of the competition and market factors.
  • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in systems engineering.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Experience with Marine Gas Turbine Package Engineering.
  • Experience with Ship Propulsion System Integration.
  • Master's Degree in engineering.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certifications.
