General Summary of Responsibilities

At Exchange Hotels Management LLC, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service through our dedicated team members. The Facilities Engineering Lead will oversee maintenance operations, ensuring the efficient functioning of all hotel systems, including guest accommodations, meeting spaces, and essential back-of-house areas. This role requires adept troubleshooting skills across various maintenance disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, utilizing a computer-based management system. A minimum of five years of experience in building maintenance is essential, with a preference for candidates with hotel industry experience. Strong knowledge of major building systems, particularly life-safety protocols, is crucial for success in this position. Excellent communication and leadership abilities are also required, along with a flexible approach to work hours based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

1) Scheduling:

  • Monitor and manage labor hours and standards for all maintenance tasks.

2) Financial Management:

  • Control maintenance-related expenses, including labor and supplies, while implementing cost-saving measures. Track daily costs associated with maintenance activities.

3) Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that guest satisfaction meets or exceeds established brand standards.
  • Maintain high-quality facility standards in accordance with brand expectations.

4) Leadership:

  • Inspire, mentor, and develop team members, establishing clear goals and accountability while providing constructive feedback and recognition.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic, integrity, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and professional work environment, adhering to company policies.

Essential Duties

  • Supervise all engineering projects, ensuring completion of tasks to the highest standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities across the hotel, including routine and preventive maintenance for guest rooms and public areas.
  • Oversee the hotel's exterior appearance, including landscaping and parking facilities.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty as required.

Maintain a commitment to exceptional guest service, anticipating and exceeding expectations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Utilize the property management system effectively.
  • Enforce policies and procedures among the engineering team.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels in all areas of responsibility.
  • Address guest complaints to enhance service quality.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding maintenance issues.
  • Follow emergency protocols and safety policies to protect team members and guests.
  • Prepare and adjust department schedules based on business demands.
  • Assign tasks to team members to ensure efficient operations.
  • Manage the physical plant, including HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Keep accurate logs and records as required.
  • Inspect facilities to assess maintenance needs and recommend additional services.

Qualifications

A minimum of five years of experience in building maintenance is required, preferably within the hotel sector. Strong knowledge of building systems and excellent communication skills are essential. Leadership skills and flexibility in work hours are also necessary.
