MRA Recruiting Services is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer for the Building Trades Council. This organization represents a collective of local building trades unions, advocating for over 6,000 members within the construction industry. The CEO will play a pivotal role in driving initiatives that foster local employment opportunities and enhance community infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
  • Advocating for labor-management apprenticeship initiatives;
  • Providing resources and support regarding the construction sector;
  • Tackling challenges faced by the building trades, including worker classification, wage standards, and contracting policies.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in labor relations and a passion for workforce development. Responsibilities will encompass:

Leadership & Strategic Development
  • Act as the principal representative of the Council, promoting its objectives and values;
  • Formulate and execute strategic initiatives for organizational growth;
  • Oversee the preparation and recommendation of the annual financial plan.
Marketing & Community Engagement
  • Enhance awareness of unionized apprenticeship programs across diverse communities;
  • Implement outreach initiatives targeting youth and educational institutions to promote careers in the construction trades;
  • Develop comprehensive communication strategies to highlight the Council's accomplishments;
  • Engage with media and stakeholders to elevate the Council's visibility.
Advocacy & Policy Relations
  • Establish and nurture relationships with government officials and partner organizations to serve as a key information source for the construction industry;
  • Collaborate with labor organizations to strengthen political advocacy efforts;
  • Stay informed on legislative developments affecting the workforce and construction sectors;
  • Lead initiatives promoting responsible contracting practices.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations, including vendor relations and regulatory compliance;
  • Facilitate meetings and prepare necessary documentation for the Executive Board;
  • Negotiate collective bargaining agreements within the Council's jurisdiction;
  • Coordinate outreach events to engage members and the community.
