The Chief Executive Officer will be tasked with spearheading the private sector engagement of a newly formed public-private partnership.

Key Responsibilities

The individual will take charge of crafting an annual financial plan and operational strategy, acting as the principal fundraiser for the organization, and overseeing the Madison LakeWay public-private partnership.

Madison LakeWay is a premier 1.7-mile, 17-acre park district that links downtown and south Madison to Lake Monona.

Located just a few blocks from downtown Madison, Wisconsin, this area is recognized as one of the most desirable cities in the United States.

It is in close proximity to the busiest pedestrian intersection in Wisconsin, celebrated for its vibrant dining, shopping, cultural institutions, and an exceptional arts center.

The Madison LakeWay is set to become a vibrant public gathering space for the community while preserving the stunning lakeshore for future generations.

Madison LakeWay Partners is a non-profit organization collaborating with the City of Madison to finance, construct, and manage the Madison LakeWay.

Formerly known as the Friends of Nolen Waterfront, this organization has played a pivotal role in fundraising, gathering community input, and advancing the Madison LakeWay initiative.

Scope of Work

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the private sector contributions to the master plan designed by Sasaki for the development of the public space along the 1.7 miles of Lake Monona's waterfront.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving fundraising efforts through engagement with private and nonprofit sectors to secure necessary funding for construction, maintenance, and operational needs of the Madison LakeWay.
  • Overseeing all administrative and fundraising aspects of the planned Madison LakeWay development, which includes parks, beaches, and walkways.
  • Building and managing the daily operations of the Madison LakeWay public-private partnership team.
  • Coordinating with the City of Madison Parks Division to ensure the completion of the Madison LakeWay design and construction.
  • Collaborating with the City of Madison and private stakeholders in the comprehensive planning process for adjacent lands, fostering broad support for the Madison LakeWay public-private partnership.
  • Supervising the future operation, maintenance, security, and programming of the Madison LakeWay public spaces.
  • Serving as the spokesperson and representative of the Madison LakeWay Partners.
  • Establishing a productive working relationship with the Madison LakeWay Partners Board of Directors.

Experience

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $125,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
