The Midwest Museums is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Founded as a non-profit organization, Midwest Museums is dedicated to the acquisition, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge and artifacts related to the rich history and culture of museums in North America.
The organization operates various exhibits, educational workshops, and community events, maintaining a robust membership and a diverse collection of historical objects.
The Chief Executive Officer will work closely with the Board of Directors to strategize and implement actionable plans aimed at ensuring the sustainability and growth of the organization.
This leader will serve as the primary representative of Midwest Museums, fostering relationships with members, volunteers, donors, grant-making organizations, government entities, local leaders, educational institutions, and community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Vision.
Collaborate with the board to establish strategic goals and initiatives.
Oversee museum operations, including:
development, financial management, educational programming, volunteer coordination, donor engagement, fundraising efforts, event organization, grant writing, exhibit planning, and maintenance of exhibit spaces.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or higher.
A minimum of five years of experience in non-profit management.
Exceptional oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Proven knowledge of museum standards and best practices, along with active participation in relevant professional associations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including spreadsheet, database, email, calendar/scheduling, word processing, and financial software applications.
Ability to provide personal office space and equipment.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently.
Compensation and Benefits:
The Chief Executive Officer position is a part-time salaried role with an annual salary range of $20,000 to $25,000.
This role offers flexible working hours, may require weekend and evening work, and involves travel for various events and activities.
