Position Overview:
The Preschool Education Coordinator will support the Preschool Director in guiding the program and overseeing classroom staff while executing the educational curriculum effectively.

This role requires collaboration with fellow educators and administrative personnel to fulfill the mission and vision of the Preschool.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the supervisor to execute the curriculum within set guidelines.
  • Develop and implement daily lesson and activity plans.
  • Oversee the children, classroom environment, and all related activities.
  • Conduct ongoing, systematic observations and assessments of each child.
  • Facilitate parent conferences and maintain positive relationships through effective communication.

Additional Duties:

  • Ensure the program site and equipment are well-maintained.
  • Keep accurate program records as required.
  • Participate in program activities, staff meetings, and training sessions.
  • Provide guidance to Preschool Assistants and Volunteers within the classroom.
  • Adhere to DHS Rule 3 regulations for licensed childcare facilities.
  • Comply with all YMCA policies and procedures, including Child Abuse Prevention protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Fulfill Minnesota DHS Rule 3 Teacher qualifications, including annual in-service training.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other training mandated by the Department of Human Services (training will be provided upon hire).

Essential Skills:

  • A dedication to working with children in a developmental context and a genuine desire to positively impact their lives.
  • Capability to plan, organize, and execute age-appropriate and developmentally suitable preschool activities.
  • Strong teaching skills along with effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to engage with children individually or in small groups independently.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • No history of convictions related to child abuse, including sexual abuse.

Physical Requirements:
Must possess adequate strength, agility, and mobility to fulfill essential functions and supervise activities in various indoor and outdoor settings. Responsibilities include performing physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations is also essential.
