Cost Accounting Specialist - Direct Hire - $85k

Position Summary: In the role of Cost Accounting Specialist, you will play a crucial part in monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on production costs. Collaborating closely with both production and finance teams, your focus will be on ensuring precise cost reporting, aiding in budgeting and forecasting activities, and pinpointing opportunities for cost reduction. A solid grasp of cost accounting principles and manufacturing operations is essential for success in this position.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Cost Evaluation: Assess and report on production costs, encompassing direct materials, labor, and overhead. Identify discrepancies in costs and offer practical recommendations to enhance cost efficiency.
  • Cost Documentation: Keep meticulous records of costs associated with all manufacturing activities, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and work-in-progress.
  • Budget Preparation: Contribute to the development of budgets and forecasts by supplying detailed cost data and trend analyses.
  • Cost Reporting: Generate and present comprehensive cost reports to management, emphasizing key insights and suggesting measures for cost control.
  • Inventory Oversight: Manage inventory valuation and reconcile physical counts with accounting records, ensuring accurate reporting of inventory costs and adjustments.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and execute cost control strategies and process enhancements to improve manufacturing efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Variance Review: Conduct variance analysis for material, labor, and overhead costs, investigating and resolving discrepancies to guarantee accurate financial reporting.
  • Team Collaboration: Work in partnership with production managers and other departments to comprehend cost drivers, refine cost reporting processes, and support financial decision-making.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies related to cost accounting and financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA or CMA certification is advantageous.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing context.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, manufacturing processes, and inventory management. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Analytical Abilities: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting complex financial data and providing actionable insights.
  • Detail Orientation: High level of accuracy and meticulousness in financial reporting and cost analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities, with the capacity to present financial information clearly to management and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Compensation Details: $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year
