A reputable mid-sized equipment manufacturing firm is in search of a skilled Cost Accounting Specialist. This role is essential due to the retirement of a previous team member, and the ideal candidate will possess a solid background with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage inventory and product costing, ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and collaborate with colleagues to deliver precise cost reports.
  • Focus on product cost components, including materials, labor, and overhead, alongside Bills of Materials (BOMs) and labor collections.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of inventory and labor costs, reporting job costs, and performing variance analyses.
  • Prepare regular sales, cost of goods, and inventory reports, analyzing gross margin by customer and project.
  • Assist in cycle counts and physical inventories, while also preparing operational KPIs.
  • Support the development of new processes aimed at improving cost reporting and financial efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in inventory and cost accounting within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) related to cost accounting.
  • Proficiency in SAP is required; experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with database systems such as pcMRP and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams on cost standards development.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This position also includes providing backup support for other accounting functions as necessary.
